Industry Use Cases
Construction:
Standard flatbeds dominate construction hauling. They deliver steel beams, lumber, scaffolding, piping, roofing and pre-cast panels to job sites . Heavy machinery (cranes, excavators, backhoes) and modular sections of buildings ride flatbeds. Conestogas appear when finished components or sensitive materials need cover: prefabricated wall panels, glass windows, cabinetry or HVAC equipment are shipped on Conestogas to protect them during transit . In practice, contractors use flatbeds for raw bulk materials and switch to Conestogas or dry vans for rain-sensitive finished goods
Manufacturing & Industrial:
Heavy manufacturing industries load steel coils, fabricated assemblies, conveyors and machine parts on flatbeds . Flatbeds serve metal fabrication shops and equipment manufacturers, carrying frames, tanks, plastics tubing, and outsize parts. Conestogas are used by manufacturers of high-tech or large products – e.g. glass manufacturers, solar/semiconductor plants, or aircraft builders. Glass panels, precision machined assemblies, wind turbine blades, and large machinery often require covered transit, so Conestogas or rolling curtain vans are employed.
Aerospace & Defense:
Aerospace primes use both trailers: very large airframe sections or engines typically go on flatbeds (sometimes step-decks or RGN trailers) because of size, but they are secured under tarps or Conestogas for protection during flight or oversize moves. In fact, Conestogas are often chosen for high-value aircraft components because they speed up loading and keep out the elements . Similarly, military cargo – vehicles.
Energy & Utilities:
Oil, gas, and power industries rely on flatbeds for rigs, pipes, valves, transformers and wind-farm parts. Long tubular steel, drilling machinery, turbine generators, and wind-turbine towers often go flatbed (flat or extendable) due to length . Conestogas see use when sensitive components like switchgear or solar panels need shelter en route.
Agriculture & Forestry:
Farm equipment (tractors, combines) and timber products (logs, lumber) are flatbed staples. Conestogas are less common, though weather-sensitive shipments (seed cartons, packaged fertilizers) might use them.
Logistics & Distribution:
General freight and pallet loads that are oversized or need multiple stops may use either trailer. Flatbeds haul loads too big for vans (e.g. machinery, bulk pipe). Conestogas are popular with freight carriers for mixed pallet LTL loads where side loading and weather protection are required (e.g. building supplies, HVAC loads, large drums)
Delivery for Complex, Irregular, and High-Value Freight.
Bravo Transport flatbed and Conestoga's trailers is designed for freight that can’t be boxed in — oversized shapes, awkward dimensions, or loads that demand protection without compromise. From structural steel and machinery to aerospace parts and sensitive equipment, we match each shipment with the optimal trailer setup. Whether open-deck or fully covered, our configurations ensure safe handling, quick access and compliance with every route and regulation.
